Twenty-nine people including a young boy were injured on Friday when the bomb partially detonated and sent a ball of fire along a carriage of the eastbound District Line train from Wimbledon at the Parsons Green station, south-west London, reports the Guardian.

Armed police and military personnel are being deployed over the weekend and the public is being asked to remain vigilant in the wake of yesterday's Tube train bomb attack. The blast injured at least 29 people, many of whom had "flash burn" injuries.

A U.S. law enforcement source told CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton the device used in the attack was a white plastic bucket with a black cloth on top, with wires believed to be Christmas lights coming out of the bucket.

Prime Minister Theresa May condemned the "cowardly" attack, which she said had "intended to cause significant harm".

The terror threat level in Britain has been raised to the highest level of "critical", which means a terror attack is imminent.

This is the first arrest in connection with the incident.

"This arrest will lead to more activity from our officers", he continued.

A police forensic officer stands beside a train at Parsons Green subway station in London on Friday.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the blast as we wish them a speedy recovery", he said.

As Jersey sits within the Common Travel Area, the local threat level has also been raised to match that of the UK. "This is a proportionate and sensible step which will provide extra reassurance and protection while the investigation progresses", May said.

Trump tweeted Friday: "Another attack in London by a loser terrorist. They will be caught and brought to justice". The device included a timer and was carried in an insulated shopping bag, the source said.
